Red Rooibos

Red rooibos tea or red bush tea has a naturally sweet and aromatic flavour that is different to traditional black tea. It has a smooth taste and is full-bodied and rich in flavour. Rooibos tea can be enjoyed with or without milk and works perfectly as a delicious breakfast tea or can be enjoyed throughout the day. This tea comes from the rooibos plant - the Aspalathus linearis shrub/plant, which is grown in the Western Cape Cederberg Mountain region of South Africa. Following the harvest, typically the leaves are left to dry out in the sun which gives them their reddish brown colour.

In South Africa, it is known as the ‘long-life tea’ due to the well-known health benefits of rooibos tea that have been supported in research studies. Rooibos benefits from being low in tannins, as well as containing high levels of antioxidants. As well as this, the rooibos plant is naturally caffeine free and therefore so are tea blends made from its leaves. This has a number of health benefits such as a positive impact on sleep and helping to reduce anxiety levels.

1 heaped teaspoon per cup, boil the kettle, brew for 5 mins and serve with or without milk.
